We first met when I was half a year into my first full time job and started living in a small studio apartment in Magnolia. I decided to spend my last few months of 21 looking for new adventures. At the time, Chevy had just moved to Seattle for a job and could not wait to try out the dating scene here. Our universes collided when I thought to myself that he looked like a Hong kong movie star. Being a sucker for pretty boys, I reciprocated and we started talking in the summer of 2012, followed by multiple coffee dates and 'Netflix n'chill' . It was the most colorful summer of my life. Three months into "hanging out" with Chevy, my work visa expired and I knew I had to leave for Vietnam indefinitely. As I told Chevy the news, I was ready to stop seeing him and get on with my life. It turned out to be an overwhelmingly emotional moment. We found that we already grew too attached to call it quits, so we decided to embrace what we had and turned it into a serious long-distance relationship instead.
I never thought our long-distance relationship could work out. Yet after countless Facetime calls, multiple trips to different countries in Asia, lots of goodbyes and tons of joy of seeing each other, we were somehow still together. The long-distance part of the relationship has given us adventures and experiences that we would never forget, whether it's waiting for sunrise at Angkor Wat, riding a sketchy rip-off boat in Bangkok, wandering around marvelous gardens in Singapore or chilling on the beaches in Nha Trang. Two years after that, I ended up in Seattle again with Chevy, this time maybe for good :).
